    Re: The 100,000 Mile Club

Heck, I thought this was gonna be about pretty girls and airplanes!

Seriously Spence this is a neat thread. Looks like Ron and Brad have the first '03s on the list. Will be interesting to see who has the first '04 and '05 to be added.

That would be the 160,934km club.

Mine is not. It's been outside its whole life. Still on the original serpentine belt. I may treat it to a struts, tie rods, sway bar links etc soon though. The more you drive these the more reliable they are. I've only put a thermostat and a set of COPS in the car besides brakes, tires etc. When I wear this one out I'll buy another since there are tons of low mile Birds about.

At a little over 48K after 12 years I guess you will have to save me a spot somewhere around the year 2027 or 2028. Dang, I gotta get the Bird out more often.

You can add Rick Thomas (worldclasswheels) to the list. He was closing in on 200,000 as of a post from Nov 2011.

At that time there were already 11 model year 2002's at over 100K per the thread's poll.

Has anyone heard from Rick? He hasn't been here for a year and a half.

                          Re: The 100,000 Mile Club

Just over 112,000. I've been trying to keep it up like an airplane, doing my best to anticipate future failures....so far: 100k tuneup, all cops and plugs, main computer module, AC module, CD player, 3 sets tires, two batteries, thermostat, various seals and hoses, all struts, rear wheel bearing, new rag top, changed transmission fluid and flushed cooling system and I suppose a few things I have forgotten. The car never used a drop of oil, still drives like a dream and today I had a review with my insurance people and they lowered the premium and told me the value had gone up.....checked with Kelley and the others and it has....even with the high mileage which now doesn't seem to bring the value down much because, I guess, the assumption that what was going to fail, has failed and been replaced. Anyhow, if the value even holds, it makes it worth while to keep tinkering with the old girl. Not many old cars still running and looking good can make a claim that the value isn't wasted when repairs are called for.

Is this like the mile high club?

OR Maybe the High Mileage Club.

Just broke 60,000 miles got a long way to go go!

Drive it like you stole it !!!

I'll never be a member of this club with my TBird. I'm lucky to get 2000 miles a year on mine since I never drive it in the Winter. I put 14K on it in 7 years and just extended the ESP for 5 more years and 48K more miles.
