It's a 2002 car, heavily modified, and first revealed in February, 2003.

    Gene, thanks,

So, they got 390 HP out of a 2002 engine without variable valve timing.
I would have been satisfied with 302 HP out of a 252 HP engine.

      I thought a Supercharger was a Turbo?

No, each one pushes wind in a different way with similar results.

If I am not mistaken, Turbo's have forced air injection via a turbine( fan) driven by exhaust gases. Turbo's can have a "lag" before they kick in.
A super charger is belt driven off the engine thus no lag time . The amount of horse power generated by either has to do with how much boost (PSI Pounds Square inch) that is forced into the combustion chamber. All of this requires additional plumbing under the hood which there is not much room for and as seen on the concept additional height on the hood for the super charger.

The 1957 F Tbird had a small supercharger mounted like the alternator and AC compressor. I wonder if this is doable. I would be Happy with 300 or so HP.

It would not require a new hood.

H, at least one previous thread here discusses a company in Florida that has developed a supercharger for the Retro. The owner of the company said they could install it on other T-Birds, but it isn't cheap ... $ 10,000-12,0000.

I don't think many Retro owners want to spend that kind of money, but it's an option for those who do.

                Thanks Phil,
These are just interesting facts about Tbirds.
Do you know how much HP increase the Florida outfit claims?

Re: Sport Roadster & Supercharged Concepts- Auction Nov 14-15

As I recall H, the supercharged engine produced about 390 HP. I don't know if this was BHP or not.

A search on supercharger threads here would probably lead you to the entire discussion. I'll see if I can find it and post a link to this thread. Maybe another member here remembers the name of the thread I'm thinking of.

Dot: there are at least 4 or 5 cars I want to bid on. Would you and George represent me please? I will send the list and herewith authorize you to go as high as it takes, but not to exceed $5000.00. Let me know if you will do this for me. :)

David, not sure how to answer that question. Will have to ask George.

I only plan to attend on preview day.

OK, Went to the Preview of the cars. Only frustrating part was that the Supercharged Thunderbird and the Sports Roadster had two cars parked in between them and one was a truck. Not easy to get a picture with the two in the same picture.

Location was not at Sam Pack's Museum but in some building just down the road from there, well marked by R& M Auction signs.

BTW - If you're from the Dallas area, this would have been a opportunity for you to see both of these concepts in person - probably a rare opportunity. You can still attend the auction tomorrow but it will cost more ($80 for program and 2 passes). You will get to see the cars go across the stage though, something not programmed for today.

Of note: the SR grill is painted and chrome. Looks nice. The SC hash marks and louvres have chrome edges. and there is chrome showing on the edges of the hubcaps of the 17 spoke painted wheels.
