    Re: TBN "Celebrate Forty-Eight" Club

This is supposed to be a fun thing to do, not intended to be controversial. As Paul stated, what if you are trying to get to the 100,000 mile club and have to change cars for some reason. The car has the mileage, the car has the 48 states. Simple!
Unbelivable TBN trips including ALL of the lower 48 States plus 9 Canadian Provinces, 8 European Countries, 3 Caribbean Countries, Countless National Parks and have attended well over 100 TBN Events since 2001 and counting. Best of all ... fabulous friends.

I'm all for a TBN event in the Pacific Northwest! Black Beauty has maybe a half dozen states with me driving, but what about prior owners? Same car! (just kidding no need to get feathers ruffled) So I rather doubt I'll ever get a plaque unless It's on Fleabay. God willing I will reach the 100k club. I am starting to adorn my inside trunk lid with name tags from 2 TBN events and a tbird logo. I think Paul has the record for the most adornments...PS.I'd never drive 23 miles on gravel..sorry!

I have to agree, this is a fun thing not a competition, keep it simple keep it fun.
If someone wants to start a thread of 48 states in multiple vehicles then go for it. This thread is for the task in one vehicle, simple.

How about one spouse for 48 years, that's probably even more of an accomplishment versus an activity. I have 2 1/2 years to go.

Try looking at this in another way, Ron. You have an opportunity to be the first owner to do this eight times.

Sadly, you guys don't/won't know what you are missing. Every state has many things to enjoy/be proud of and last time I looked dust will wash/wipe off (still need to do that- mucho busy with other stuff since we got home).
              21 years, 174K miles, 48 States X 2 & DC, 9 Canadian provinces, 8 European countries, 3 Caribbean Islands, 3 Hawaiian Islands, 100+ National Park locations, 150+ T-bird events, 190+ retrobird diecasts/models, 13 TOTM pics & some very special friends...THANKS TBN !

I could imagine that by succeeding to be a 48 club member, the 100,000 mile club would be almost automatic, given the distances involved.

You know Paul I am absolutely confident that everyone of you that made the trip had the time of your lives. That doesn't mean that those of us that chose not to participate were not enjoying ourselves doing whatever we had going on. I assure you I wasn't sadly sitting around sulking wondering what I was missing, geeesh.

Gave me a goal with that comment. Next year is our 50th. Might have to drive the 57 up to Rhode Island so it can have it's 50th err make that 48th state at the same time.

Alas, probably won't happen next year as our 57 trip is planned for San Diego next year.

lol! oops = 47 would be the correct number so far! so will have to do the 48th. 49th is also a possibility though as there is a overland route... and it has been done with a 57 in the recent past by another Texan.

Rick, as you can see my response was directed to two specific comments. It had nothing to do with whether anyone was not enjoying themselves or sulking. I'm fine with however anyone choses to enjoy their vehicle(s), but that doesn't change the fact that they don't know what they are missing.

I count myself fortunate that Rosetta and I have the health, time and means to travel on TBN trips and events. I never take it for granted because any of these can go away at any time. So, as long as we can, I will, because there are a lot of amazing things to see in this country. I'd hate to miss one of them because I have preconceived notions about a location, a dirt road or saving miles on the car.

You've made your position on this clear many times. If you somehow think that my difference of opinion is somehow putting you down, I'm sorry, because that was/is never my intention.

You're all wrong. The POTUS said there are 58 states.

                              He actually said 57.
