As noted in thread #30 above, the battery warning light was illuminated (red) while I was checking the voltage at the battery terminals with my multimeter. The battery warning light never went out while I was checking the voltage at the battery terminals.
Need to test at the battery while the light is on. Mine showed fine at the cigarette lighter but high at battery.
Bad ground????
Did you check the battery voltage (while charging) from + to -terminals or from + terminal to body ground or engine metal? What is the voltage from the alternator terminal to the alternator body?
HKS
P.S. The big difference form the cabin 14.2 V to the battery 15.5v indicates bad wiring or ground or some other device is drawing current from the cig lighter circuit.

1. Battery voltage was checked from + terminal on battery, to body ground terminal in the trunk. Using these measuring points, the battery voltage was measured at 14.5 volts, with the red battery warning light illuminated. There is no way to reach engine metal from battery location in trunk, without stringing a wire from the engine to the trunk.
2. Can't get to the alternator because it is hidden underneath the engine on the passenger side. There is a flat protective panel underneath the alternator that must be dropped to access the alternator. I have no way (my body is too large) to get under the vehicle, to access the protective panel or the alternator. I'm not going to raise the vehicle on ramps to access the alternator because the ramps would be in the way of the access location.
I'll take the information to my service guy at our Ford dealer, and see what they can do for me.
