  • Very original '65

While cruising around today in 24 degree weather stopped into a local auto emporium to look over the wares.

Lots of eye candy to lust over but thought I would post this link to their '65 Bird with the 390/300 hp.

Sounds as good as it looks.

This is a very nice Thunderbird but I would question just how much is original and how much has been redone.

Very nice. Wonder what it's like to have your own museum? Cars back then without a / c were not that uncommon. A muscle car of that era with air was actually uncommon. No I am not calling this a muscle car.

Surprising how "options" have changed over the years. Its much easier to "load" all cars today, build them with pretty much all options, than to have each one comming down the line optioned differently. The heater on my '55 Ford was a $7.50 option.

One of the guys at morning coffee is Tony Liscio, former Dallas Cowboy with a Super Bowl ring. When Tony played for Green Bay he bought a 1963 Thunderbird without A/C. Then when he moved to Dallas he immediately bought a 1964 Thunderbird WITH A/C. He still tries to trade his F150 for Coco. No deal.

Love all the shiny chrome inside and out. Don't see much of that any more.

I get to look at that dash all the time in my 64 which is slightly different in that the console inset is brushed aluminum v. black vinyl and the accent colour is dark blue:

It sure is a nice car all in all; I noted that the under carriage has been the victim of the dreaded silver spray bomb so not all that original but in good overall condition. Mine is not all original either since I have added such things as chrome valve covers, chrome fan shroud, chrome cowl supports, wide whitewalls and the big no, no.......gasp a Continental Kit!!!!

Stunningly beautiful. I may be wrong, but it appears the center hub of the steering wheel is upside down. I think the Bird is standing on its head.

Beautiful car. Interesting that Ford finally installed hand crank (and optional electric) vent windows in 1964 after having pop-out style vents on earlier models.

Optional electric vent windows came in '65, not on '64's
