door lock not working from remote

Hello to All,
All of a sudden the driver's door, 2002 T Bird , lock quit unlocking with the remote. It didn't lock every time but would not unlock the door. This is after working with no problem all day and many uses. My wife says it has been doing the same thing for some time usually when it is hot outside. What will cause the remote not to work the door lock and why would the temperature outside affect the lock operation to unlock?

Had this same intermittent problem with my '97 Bird this past fall . New battery in the remote fixed the problem . Been fine ever since .

When you replace the battery, check the terminals that the battery connects. They may have small corrosion. You can use a pencil eraser or light sand paper to remove corrosion.

If that does not work, try reprogramming the remote. Turn the key in the ignition from off to run eight time in 10 seconds, but don't start the engine. The door locks should cycle to lock & unlock, showing that you are in program mode. Now push any key on the remote and it should be programmed.

8 bucks for a new battery at Batteries Plus and they install it.

Is the passenger side working? If it is, not likely to be the battery.

My remote works both doors. Not sure what you are talking about Greg S. If it unlocks the truck, it may not be remote.

He said it "quit unlocking the driver's door". Mine has done tha since I bought it. Works fine on the passenger side and trunk. Actuator is bad on the driver's side.

I had this problem but in my case the passenger door lock didn't work. Ford said I had a bad actuator and and a bad electronic module (REM or FEM).

Mine has been intermittant for 2 years now. I know how to get around it so live with it misbehaving. Easier than poking spouse.

Same thing they did to me, but I'm suspicious when they say its TWO things that caused the problem. It cost me about $1,500... I rather suspect they replaced one thing, it still didn't work, and they replaced something else.

I had that same problem on the passenger side. Sometimes it would unlock the door but almost always would lock. A new actuator fixed the problem. They are not expensive and once the inner door panel is off, it is quite easy to replace.

I felt the same way. Maybe it was true since there's two of us.

I did not realize there was an actuator for each door. My 88 bronco stopped working and it was one actuator for both doors. Guess it was wired different.
