Re: door lock not working from remote

My remote works this way, one push on the unlock button & the driver's door unlocks. Two pushes on the unlock button & both the driver's & passengers door unlocks.

I always thought that this is how the Bird is suppose to operate. ????

As for the actuators, there is one in each door. It is an electrical soleniod that when energized by the FCM & the RCM with either unlock or lock the door. They can get weak and then they can not push or pull with enough force to actuate the door lock.

Good info. Maybe never need it as I have enough to do on my bird already.

If the inside switch operates the door looks, it is probably a battery problem. I had a similar problem and decided that it was the car battery that needed replacement (everything worked well after a drive and the car battery was charged).

Re: door lock not working from remote

          Hello to All,

The issue with the remote is two fold. Push once for driver door and twice for both doors. Doing so unlocks the passenger door but not the driver door (either one or two pushes) it will lock the driver's door but not every time. The remote has consistently worked for the trunk, except for during the second issue conundrum.
The second issue is that when it is hot outside, like in the high 90's or above 100 degrees the remote does not work at all.
Actually, while I was driving the car after the battery was reinstalled (& I had fixed the window down/up) the remote worked the driver's door without any problem. Then my wife and I went out in it and when I got out it didn't lock the driver's door...to my surprise but not my wife's...as my wife informed me that the remote had been having problems with the driver's door for a long time. Once she said that it has not worked to unlock the driver's door since, but has been locking it.
The inside lock/unlock button on the door works to lock and unlock each respective door.
I don't think we have ever replaced the remote battery so I don't know if that would cause the anomaly problem or how the heat related deficiency relates to the battery. By the way, the heat failure has been an ongoing problem since we got the car new and the dealer has never been able to fix it or explain it so we just lived with it.

Sounds like a weak actuator. Locking takes less power than unlocking.

Do you still have the second remote? Is the problem the same on both? If so, David A may be right. If not, change the battery in the remote with problem.
