Picked up a new Motorola Roadster 2 on ebay for a little less than half the original list price. I have not tried it in the Thunderbird yet but have been using it the last week in my daily driver. Overall I am pleased with it, I have been getting about 18 hours between charging(you can also keep it plugged in). I have driven with it in both downtown Pittsburgh and Columbus plus the trip between the two. I have experienced very slight fade right in the city where the signal will very slightly come and go but no static, just the music gets softer. I was streaming from my iPhone 6s plus with itunes. On the open road it performed beautifully with absolutely no fade. The cell phone talk feature works really well. My main use for it would be for traveling so the slight signal loss right in the city does not bother me. It is an inexpensive and very viable solution for playing music other than the CD or radio.

The Roadster 2 is not the latest unit being sold, the newest version is much larger and the reivews are no better. If you buy one, buy a silver one and not the black, the silver is was the latest version.

I know I didn't hit all the details, if any specific questions, ask.

Is it something that will help with AM reception? With the antenna embedded in the windshield, even the very strong AM station from Baltimore gets is weak at my house only 20 or so miles away. I really would like to get something to boost the signal. And yes, I still listen to AM, mainly because of talk radio.

No. It's bluetooth for your phone allowing hands free calls.

In that case, you should be able to stream the internet feed of your radio station as well. Just remember that you'll be using up your data plan to do it.
