    Re: Wireless back up camera.

I did a double din install of Pioneer Nex-4100. GPS from cell phone, streaming music and all sorts of stuff including back up camera input. No cutting, and generally plug and play - but take your time and it will work first time. Uses steering wheel controls and looks stock

Thanks for the Pioneer model number. By the way I know how to use a slide-rule. It got me promoted in the NAVY. We did not have calculators in 1965.

      OK,

Got a quote to install a receiver with GPS $749. Installed with backup camera had a total of $1318.05
If the iPhone GPS will shows up on the receiver screen I may go without the camera and go for the $650 receiver which I can install myself.

          Re: Wireless back up camera.

          Back on track:

Still looking for radios. Found that the Tbird has 8 speakers and 2 power modules.

There is a power amp for the 2 rear subwoofers and another power amp for the left and right center image speakers.

Now I have to find a modern receiver that will send signals to the center image speaker amplifier. Separate subwoofer signals provision are standard. I have never heard of needing to fade separate subwoofers from right to left etc. All radios I have looked at, only have one subwoofer output.

          HKS
P.S. There are a lot of lower priced radios, but I suspect wire cutting is needed. So I have decided to pay more for a plug and play installation.

            Any updates on this.

Definitely would like to install if Bluetooth/wireless is available.

Probably NOBODY appreciates a calculator more than a guy who used a slide rule.especially with long decimal formulas and factors. My first was a Texas Instruments almost 50 years ago, I am still in awe.

Off topic, but I well remember the 1960's race between Texas Instruments and Mostek to get shift registers to work (and build with ion implantation). That's the component that made digital calculators function.

                    Re: Wireless back up camera.

After buying and installing a very cheap stand alone unit for the daily driver and being very pleased with it, I bought one for the Bird. Will have to wait 'til winter storage is over to install. Tapped into the backup light wiring for the Chrysler. Anyone have suggestions as to a easy to get at area to tap into the Bird's wiring.

                      Re: Wireless back up camera.

Bill, I tapped the backup light wiring at the left rear fender, just behind the tail light. Just pull the panel off and there it is. You may have some trouble with wiring because in our cars the positive side is always hot and switches are on the negative side to turn things on or off. Check your installation instructions. What will happen is your camera will be on until you put it in reverse, then it will turn off. I had a setting on my display to correct the problem.

Thanks Dave. That is interesting. Will get the box out and see if any referencing to a solution.
