      Re: Car Insurence

I have Grundy also, but recently lowered the stated amount to $20,000. Not because it lowered the premium, but because if I/we are involved in an accident that causes major damage to the car I want to make sure they total it.

Im thinking if I was involved in an accident with $13k in repairs and I have a stated value policy for say $33k they might try to save $20k and fix the car. I certainly don't want to be driving around a car with $13k in damages no matter how well it was fixed. I'm hoping at $20k they'll just right me the check and I'll move on.

Thanks for all your input. Through USAA I insured my 1955 T-Bird for 35,000 for 261.06 a year with American Collectors Insurance

Good deal on the baby bird, but you didn't tell us what you decided to do with your retrobird's insurance (assuming you have one).

Obviously Sherlock, neither does TEE4TOO. Over $1,800 a year for two cars and two drivers still seems very high.

I am sure you are not trying to be smart with that comment. However if you look, TEE4TOO lives in Las Vegas. I was there in July and it is crowded and people really drive aggressive.

If you are sure about that then I can live with it. However, if you look at the chart you can see that population is not a primary factor. Montana is #2 on the list and Nevada is at #28. Other sources may have a few states up or down a position or two, but close.

I know where he lives, Watson. Looking at the figures in your link his premiums are well below average.

Was wondering if these policies had the capability to remove collision during winter storage or are the rates so low that you just live with the policy all year at a yearly rate that takes storage into consideration.

That is a very good question, Not many collisions in a garage.

Bill, I would think that could be a possibility. There are all sorts of ways to lower premiums. Multi car, have the home covered, defensive driver courses, limited mileage usage, safer zip code, high credit score, not making payments, active on star, which is almost like allowing the insurance company to actively monitor your driving habits and patterns, clean record, senior discounts, length of time with an insurer. Many different ways to lower premiums and still be well covered.

I know my premiums are high and I could cut some corners
but a couple years ago I was rear ended and basicly car was totaled. Driver was under insured and USAA came to my rescue ( so I'm paying for that now)
