Re: Car Insurence
There are companies out there that deal with collector cars( Grundy for one) but they normally limit the amount of miles you drive and have restrictions on general use. They will however give you YOUR stated value in the event of a total loss. With standard insurance carriers they will allow for current market value, which as you know has a lot of variables. In the event of a total loss you can only negotiate so far and if you added bling or other mods to the car they would be likely to ignore the dollars spent in customization

Re: Car Insurance
Have had Grundy for years and am really satisfied. After a small accident my wife had a couple years ago with the PCR when her foot slipped off the brake pedal and went into a Lexus in front of her resulting in the need of a new fascia, grille and fog lamp for our car let alone damage to the Lexus, Grundy covered it for both cars, and did NOT raise our rates. Since there is a car show of some kind almost every day here in Florida, there isn't problem with the "limited" driving of the car except to car functions, etc. GO,GRUNDY!!

Re: Car Insurence
Have st. farm, biggest classic car insurer in U.S. (they say), valued my car about $15,000. pay about $30.00 mo. Full coverage, no driving restrictions, you will have to ask if you get full price or if they devalue it (can't remember)

Re: Car Insurence
Many here are Grundy policy holders and a large proportion of those drive Birds with excess of 100,000 miles. Grundy is very liberal on the mileage clause. However if you have two drivers on your policy you are required to own two daily drivers in addition to your Bird. We have a declared value of $33,000 with an annual premium of $500.?

Re: Car Insurence
I too have Grundy. Declared value $26k, premium $372.
My other cars are with USAA. Their cost for the TBird would have been slightly higher, with only market value coverage.- Ted

Re: Car Insurence
I have USAA and tried to get them to cover the specialty cars, but too expensive through their underwriter - Progressive.
I had Grundy for many years with the 380SL, but after acquiring the Viper and T-Bird - switched to: CHROME Classic Car Insurance - very reasonable....

Re: Car Insurence
Taking the Grey Ghost from daily driver has gotten me to investigate classic/collectible insurance.
J.C.Taylor doesn't work because the car is less than 19 years old.
Grundy is less much less than Haggerty????
Any current thoughts?Bill Coates-Canfield, Ohio

Re: Car Insurence
Bill, Have used Grundy for YEARS and very pleased. Declared value of PCR is $25,500 and we pay $327./yr. When Karen rolled into a car at a stop light a couple years ago, we had to replace entire front fascia, fog lamp and grille plus repairs to car ahead of her and my premium has not gone up the last 2 renewal periods. Grundy was a pleasure to deal with.

Re: Car Insurence
No Mileage Limitations - The policy authorizes hobby use of the vehicle in collector activities, exhibits and parades.
Chances are you may never have to prove the above and just tell them you were coming home from an activity when you were actually on a run home from the barber or drugstore. Some people may be okay with that, I mean it's just a little lie isn't it?
Or you could get a real rules type of person, like the other drivers insurance agent, that investigates every little thing about an accident and what they may or not be liable for, as well as, knowing the Grundy policy rule. Then they go to work proving you were on the way home from the grand kids school play.
Certainly not worth the guilt or risk to me.
