Re: Are we typical retro owners ?

Do you look to the future more with anticipation or anxiety? If you want tbird enthusiasm look no further. I routinely see other bird owners that to them it is just a car. Often times their ride needs cleaning...such is life. As to the values of our rides, the average has dropped in the past 5 years by about $2000. A car like mine that sold for around $17K back then with 40k miles would probably be under $15,000 today...such is life

We liked them when we first saw them but a 2 door car plus a 2 seater wasn't something we could justify then. First Ford we have ever owned and only bought it because we loved the looks and package. It could have had about any brand name on it.

Most people who 'have" commented on ours ask What is it ? They are attracted to the look not the name

And that is why I am seriously considering taking the Thunderbird script off the side. Love the look of Newman's black Coco. Don't know if it will be as stunning on a MSG.

I probably see a few cars every week I could ask that same question about, unless I happen to see a familiar emblem somewhere on it.

Ric the Allante had script emblems on taillights that came off with flossing material. The Caddy emblem on the grille was four screws. Non-permanent black sharpie on the Cadillac script on the steering wheel hide that.

That left only the Pininfarina logo on the car (Body assembled in Italy by Pininfarina).. What a hoot going to a Tailgate for a 4:00 Steelers start and listening to two drunk (very drunk) gents arguing if it was a Fiat, Maserati or Ferrari. Had to get all their buddies involved and voting. Tough to get it all off the Bird but the side script might be coming off.

One of the best benefits of owning a 2002-2005 Thunderbird is TBN and its members. I have gone to at least one Thunderbird event each year since 2006 when I got my '05. My wife attended 4 or 5 of them and I had a couple friends meet up for the others. The guys and gals who started this club in 2002 are dedicated and others have contributed greatly to making owning a Tbird an experience not just transportation. Corvette owners do similar things but let's face it, nobody does these events better than THUNDERBIRDNEST.

I have had an '03 WW for 3-1/2 years and it is a daily driver. I bought it because I always wanted a TBird and these retros are quite modern. I considered other vintage cars, but to make me comfortable in driving them on a daily basis would have cost a bundle. The Retro was already there.

Hardly a week goes by without someone commenting about what a beautiful car I have. Of course, I agree whole-heartedly. People from Escalade drivers to the guy in the Mickey-D's drive up window.

At my age of nearly 74, this is a keep-forever car. My sons will have to deal with that.
