These cars aren't rare enough that every one needs to be saved.

Possibly a potential parts car, but unfortunately it looks like a lot of the body parts are damaged. It may be repairable, but not worth the money and effort.

"It has a salvage flood title"

I would stay away from trying to put it back together.

It's not a 97 Sport, it just looks like one!

Joe, I love the looks of your 97 T-Bird which I see when you post here. I really liked the last 2 years of that series (1996 and 1997). I looked that one in 1996 but bought a Pontiac Firebird instead. Still kicking myself on that one.

I think the idea of 'fixing' this one is overshadowing the value of the parts.

The value of the parts far exceeds the asking price of this Thunderbird.

Just considering a few of the main components:

          Exterior doors - $ 600-1,500 each
          Interior door panels - $ 300-500 each
          Wheels - $ 300 each or more
          Engine cover - $ 300-400
          Rear quarter panels - $ 400-700 each
Various interior trim and dashboard components, including instrument cluster $ 2,000+

At the low end, that's over $ 5,000 and doesn't even factor in the value of the engine, transmission, seats, or other components.

One salvage yard in California sells exterior door assemblies for $ 2,250 EACH!

Of course, not everyone is set up and equipped to 'part out' cars. But for those who are, this is a bargain.

I put it here figuring someone may need a parts car.

Parts car is a great buy but shipping will be an add on and storage. Not many owners capable if handling but an independent shop or business owner with space could do well.
Parting out is a big chore unless you are equipped for it

Pete I too saw that ad....I'm fortunate to have found a reliable parts person in South Dakota. I've only used him once and believe that LA Phil has used him too. I really don't want to start a parts barn. My wife would complain if I did. I'm probably maxed out with an extra set of 7 spoke rims! Finally nice weather here in the desert.. There is an 02 black here at World Mark resort..
