    Two Fords:

    1. 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 2-door Hardtop (Flame Red over Colonial White) with 312ci Thunderbird V8 (w/ 4 bbl carb)
(Bought used for $900 in 1961. Drove it hard while in college, loved it)

    2. 1969 Ford Torino GT 2-door Hardtop (Gulfstream Aqua) with 351ci Windsor V8 (w/ 4 bbl carb)
(Ordered it and bought new in 1969 for $3600. This was my family car for 19 years)

My 1958 Chevy Impala black convertible with 348 engine. I had it it in the late sixties. My second car. Now I think sometimes the only thing that keeps me from selling my VMG is that I'd miss it. I mean where would I ever find such a unique car/color combo again.

From what I've read, the 1958 Chevy was supposed to be the 57 model, but something caused a delay, and the iconic 57 was born. That's why the 58 was a one year style. Ford and Chrysler in 57 went with all new bodies. (57 Ford actually outsold the 57 Chevy.)

Car companies back then did not offer one year body styles. Didn't make any sense dollar-wise to have a one year style. The 58 Impala (and Pontiac Bonneville) were one year styles.

The GM 59/60 models were totally different body-wise.

Steve in Kansas, We sold our PCR a few weeks ago and also bought a white Buick Cascada convertible. I agree that it is a terrific vehicle and it is a joy to drive! You don't see many on the roads so it is an exclusive ride. But we still own our Medium Steel Blue '05 'Bird so we continue to enjoy both great cars!

1940 La Salle Opera Coupe. Two tone gray the fenders a few shades darker than the
body. Some unique things I can remember Dunlop two sided whitewalls, porcelain exhaust manifolds and the heater carried the Cadillac name. It was a tank but could blow a Ford flat head V8 off the road. I swear I was going into second gear when the
Fords were going into third. Sadly I beat that car to death and traded it for a 1939
Indian Chief thats a whole other story.

My first car was a white 59 chevy impala with a 348 cu in engine. Long before spoilers the previous owner had raised the rear end quite a bit and the huge rear fins seemed to give it great traction. I drove it 128 miles per hour and had to replace many of the seals. My 02 Thunderbird has never had to go that fast. My bird keeps me from missing that chevy.

Exactly like that. I don't know it its the lighting the fenders in the photo appear to be
darker than the body as was mine. The car is stock but the interior looks to be red mine
was a gray mohair. Possibly they may have had other options. Thanks for posting the
photo you made my day back to 1957.

The car was black, I changed the color of the car for you and now the interior -look again, enjoy the memories.

Although I had no choice but to sell my 1969 Marquis Brougham to my insurance provider, (because it was totaled), I wish I could have had the car longer. It was a sweet ride. Midnight Blue, bought it when it was 2 years young and loved that 429 cu.in. V8. Less than a year after buying it, two kids in a GTO hit me, his left front fender to my left front fender on a two lane highway, no where to escape. The two Teens had cuts and bruises, I was unhurt but really upset. I guess walking away should be something to be happy about, but boy that Mercury was awesome.

Mine would be a '73 Tbird. Mint green, dark green half vinyl top, dark green leather interior. Bought it used in '75. It was great on gas (10 mpg downhill with a tailwind). Like Cal, someone totaled it on me. Eventually bought my '75 as a result.
