  • Off My Rocker

Hello Everyone, We are back home (in NY). I went into my garage to check on my TBird and that missing rocker was staring me in the eye. Here are my options. 1. Do nothing, 2. Just wait, maybe one will come along, 3. Pay $500 for a used one. --- Alan

Combine one and two three would be out of the question.

      4. Cover it with duct tape.

You have been talking about this for some time, it is bothering you every time you look at it. If you have the money to spare, buy a rocker panel, get on with bigger and better things.

It was destroyed in an accident. The repair shop could not source the parts (what a shock) I just thought I would give the forum one last shot at it. --- Alan

You have been at TBN for a year and a half. I think there has been three Thirds parted out in that time and you couldn't get a rocker panel? I find it hard to believe that $500 is the going price for a used/junk yard panel.

I purchased the TBird June 2016, I contacted one of the parted out owners and heard nothing back, The used part is from TBird Specialties in Ca. And is $479 (part plus ship) too much or too little? --- Alan

Ok, again tell me which side and I will get back with you next week when I am back in town. I have never taken anything off my flood damaged 2004, but this maybe the time to start.

IMHO, $500 is way too much money for a junked rocker panel. If you don't hear back from someone who has something for sale that you want to buy, the wise thing to do is keep after them until they answer. It's very likely they missed your inquiry, or was busy when they first saw your inquiry and meant to get back to you but forgot, or their computer crashed, or their wife of children erased it, or put off answering you for any one of many possibilities.

Yes it looks like Phil has them.

Probably will need to repaint it unless your car is black or red but he looks like he has parts for either side.

                        Hi Alan,

I've got four ... two right side and two left side. As Greg mentioned, they are already painted 'Torch Red' and 'Evening Black,' so would require repainting. They are in very good condition, not from a wrecked T-Bird, but taken from newer cars that we installed turnkey body kits on. The retail price is $ 499, which I realize sounds high, but I'll consider a reasonable offer. The issue is shipping due to the length and special packaging required. Send me a PM if you're interested.

There you go... those are less than $400 for brand new panels. if you opt for used ones from Ron also check prices for an 8 pound package, 3"x7"x76" from various carriers. Believe it or not, FedEx was cheapest, I think about $25 from Maryland to northwest Indiana.

Your website says $399, not $499.... see attachment.... FedEx shipped some to me in Northwest Indiana from Maryland for $25. Check a package 3"x7"x76" at 8 pounds and compare prices for various shippers.
