My driver's door seems OK. I can push it closed with the first catch, then firmly push it to close fully.
My passenger 2002 door "clunks" slightly when it hits the jamb. I've not addressed the issue because it's not a crisis (and I am horrible at door adjusting), but I suspect the striker plate or the door hinges need a slight adjustment. If the door alignment is OK, it most likely is the striker plate on the jamb.
Maybe I'll try peanut butter on the jamb.

You can't use peanut butter with jamb, you need to use it with jelly. Oh, and don't use the clunky-style peanut butter either!

It is a rather cheap car in many ways considering the price. For as many corners as Ford cut on this car they had to make a decent profit even for the low production #'s.
I didn't buy new because of price and mark-up over that. There is no way a Mercedes 580 SL back in '89 was worth 70+ K either. Which shows why the Mustang was such a success. You got what you paid for.
In 2007 TBN had an event in Detroit called "Motown Thunder". One of the highlights of the week was when one of the Designers told us how hard they fought the bean counters for items we take for granted. Things like the aluminum trim on the dashboard, the bean counters wanted plastic!
