Wow, that is definitely overkill. At least the one person who did it liked it, and what does he own? A metal shop, with lots of time on his or her hands.
I agree, for me it's overkill but, if one really wanted to go this route, the very least would be to fabricate the chrome so it fits. This is just a bad hack job. IMHO,,,,
I just priced all those chrome stick on moldings at Pep Boys. It is just way too expensive for me so I guess I will have to leave mine alone." Le sigh"
This car was designed the way it looks for a reason. It is way too small to do all this ridiculous looking "mods" on it. IMO, wheels, tires, and other subtle changes to make it your own is fine.
I understand its your car and your money and can do whatever you want to it, But I've seen some on the road and also on this site that look like a Mexican Taxi.
I guess thats why they make vanilla and chocolate!

You have to do a lot of bad things to make the absolutely gorgeous and elegant Mountain Shadow Grey look bad. He succeeded....Although I would like to see the interior as I have always liked the combination on a '57

As fellow travelers, we must consider this, however. I am sure that the owner of this car thinks it is the prettiest car he has ever seen. I saw a young kid driving a Pontiac Aztec (need I say more?) with fancy wheels on it, and that kid was as proud of that car as ANY of us are of our cars. So, we just grin and bear it.
I am reminded of the Seinfeld episode where the young couple had the baby that was HIDEOUS. George, Jerry, and Elaine tried their best to cover their shock, but when Kramer looked into the crib...........................................PRI CELESS.
Allen, TX The best trophies are miles on the odometer, stone chips in the paint, dead bugs on the windshield, and the occasional smell of manure.
Remember the AMT 3-in-1 model kits in your childhood? (They're still available.) You could build the car as stock, race, or custom. Bet I'm not the only one here who, first time out, put everything in the kit on the car. And didn't paint it.
(I got better. Even won a ticket to the Indy 500 in one contest.)

Are those rear fender skirts available somewhere? Now those don't look half bad....
Back in the early years there was a company in Las Vegas called Hot Chariots that made fiberglass fender skirts like these. They hosted a meal for the group during Desert Thunder I. The owner of the company had painted his retrobird purple and changed the seat inserts to match. It was one of the very first total repaints (besides the Galpin cars) any of us had seen. If I remember correctly, internal strife among the partners resulted in the company folding in a couple of years or so.
As for the subject of this thread, in my opinion the only add on chrome these cars need to look great are the hood scoop and NM wheels.
