Beautiful day here in South Carolina so I've had the Bird out most of the day. I made several stops while in town always careful to park well away from all other cars. Every single time when I came out some jack a## had parked right next to my car. There would be a dozen empty spaces around my car and they had to take the one next to me. Some were clunkers some were really nice cars but come on give a guy a little space! Those this happen to you guys too?

Yes for sure. One time I had a collector car 1973 Merc Cougar XR7. 351 Cleveland V8. All original and original white paint looking sharp. One night at a high school track meet I parked it away from everyone. It was getting dark. I figured great place for my car. WRONG!!!! When I came out finished with the meet later that night I was walking back to my car I noticed my left front fender gashed open like it had been can opened. By looking at this huge rip I noticed I was close to the High School Bus Barn. Well I figure one of the buses came by and turned a big circle and the large metal rear bumper opened my car up like a sardine can. I was sick.

You would think with all the plastic parts our Birds have, they would not have such a magnetic personality!!

This is a common phenomenon. People love to annoy others. Just park normally and you're less likely to have trouble . If you're eligible for a disability placard, those spots are wider.

This is the way it works the guys with the clunkers just want to piss you off. The guys
with the nice cars are telling you my car is just as good if not better. You might want
to try the diagonal park across two spaces that might work for you.

Are you kidding me? You might as well put a sign on your car that says "PLEASE KEY MY CAR!"

Oh man are you right about that!

Probably the single worst parking lot mistake you can make.

Some people LIVE to find people who do that, and the nicer the car the more severe the vandalism you can expect.

Sad world we live in, and things like this are nothing compared to the craziness and mayhem we hear about every day, but no sense asking for trouble.

I always try to find a curb and park right next to it. Leaves lots of empty space on the other side. I also park next to the shopping cart racks, sometimes there are oversize spaces next to them. End spaces and spaces next to handicap spaces also work well.

That is the plan of attack I use also. Right next to a curb at the back of the parking lot if I can.

                          Yes,

I always look for a space where possible damage is reduced 50% by parking at the end of the row. Plus, I give the car next to me extra space. Guess what? After I come out of the store the other car is parked closer thus giving his passenger side less chance for door dings. Parking on the downhill end of the row is not good either. A two door Cadillac clunker could be sitting next to you.

The second day I had my car, in September 01, my wife and I took a ride and stopped at a local shopping center to pick something up at the grocery store. This was a Saturday after dark so things were relatively quiet. I dropped her off and then parked on the .most outer reaches of the parking lot. But still in sight. No other car was anywhere near mine. Until we came out. Some person in a really beat Cavalier had parked so close there was no way you could enter or exit either car. You just could not open the doors far enough. My wife gasped when she saw this. Fortunately, I backed in and the other driver pulled in so we were passenger door to passenger door. I waited until he came out to his car so he could see me jotting down the license plate number. As well as examining my car as he backed out. It was a young kid who I guess was just being a smartass. And just the driver. He ignored me. I still park away from the crowds and try to get a spot where someone can only park on one side, or at a curb, as much as possible.

At the first Redneck Riviera in 2003, Sally parked her car in the back lot at Walmart. When she came out, it had been t-boned. It was bad, but once fixed, you could not tell.
