Thanks to those that voted for Jewel this month. I think she still looks pretty good from about 10 - 12 feet away after 18+ years and 165K+ miles. As mentioned, we had several really nice pictures submitted this month, so that makes being selected even better. I was excited when I realized that I was either present or nearby when 5 out of the 7 pics were taken. Also, thanks for the congratulations, it means a lot.
This pic will forever be associated with Covid-19 as far as I'm concerned. I took it on April 8, 2020, the day after I had been sent home from my part-time job at the clinic pharmacy due to my age putting me in the high risk category. I took Jewel out for a short cruise to make sure her battery was staying charged and the tires stay round-ish. It is my third picture taken at our local Northeastern State University to win TOTM including my very first win years ago and last fall's win as well.
While driving by, I happened to notice the dogwood tree in full bloom up this strange road/driveway on the campus and thought it would make a nice background for the Torch Red. The location the car was posed in is actually one way going the opposite direction, so I was glad the university was closed, giving me time to take the pic. The sun was intense and the actual temperature at the time was an all time record for that early in April - 93 degrees !! Sorry for the long narrative, but to me, every photo has a story.
I liked the picture and I'm glad others did as well. Now's a good time for folks to be sending in pictures to Spence for next month's contest. Follow the link on the home page for instructions on how to enter a picture and don't forget to give Spence your real name and your TBN handle.
