  • Winter Road Trip 2025

Well it’s been a while since I’ve been on the site. A busy fall and winter for me, bought a motorhome and was getting ready for a winter road trip to “who knows where”. Left home January 18th with six feet of snow in my front yard and traveled down I-75 in snow, rain, sleet and generally crappy weather. Landed in Ochlocknee River State Park south of Tallahassee in time for the snow and cold to hit there (why was it I left Canada in the first place again lol). Spent 10 days there and the weather warmed up but never got a chance to get the kayaks in the water. Yesterday was travel day and we stopped in Bushnell Florida to do laundry and stock up on groceries before we made it to Hog Island State Forest for a couple of weeks. Hopefully I’ll get the kayaks down and in the water here. It’s definitely been a different side of Florida than what I’ve been used to on different trips down here. Looking to start westward in a few weeks to see what we can find out that way to see and do. Have to be home by mid April so it’s hard to tell where we will end up.

    No Thunderbird on this trip.

Tried to load pictures but they won’t download, sorry.

That sounds like quite a trek, Ted, but you're seeing some interesting stuff -including snow! Enjoy, and have a safe trip!

If your travels bring you through South Louisiana, you may want to check out the Fairview State Park in Madisonville ( off of I-12) and kayak on Bayou Lacombe. Let me know if and when that makes your plans and I will treat you guys to some boiled crayfish!
