Re: Black Hills travel from the East

I use a contour back pillow for back relief and Advil in the morning and I am fine and you know how many miles we have travelled. Stops are good too, stopping the car before getting out is always sound advise as Rusty said.

With that as a qualifier does anyone have any thoughts on using either I-80 or I-90 as the preferred route. Was thinking of I-80 but around Cleveland both are the same road and we could stay on I-90 I'm guessing. Any thoughts?

Any must see/do places on the way west? Would love to drive with other members if at all possible.
Make sure you have your (EZpass) or whatever they call it in Ohio, because there are a lot of tolls on I90 going from Chicago to the northwest. I'm taking I80 and avoiding Chicago on the way but stopping there on the return to visit family.

Good call Cal. Normally in wife's car and easy to forget to switch.

Bill, I don't know about Ohio, but in NH you have to tell them what car the EZPass is in. If you switch it to another car and don't tell them there is a fee/penalty you have to pay. And yes, they do know from the picture it takes when you drive through - I know some people who have been caught.
So, check with your EZPass office to see if they do the same thing.

John was going to call after Gene's post but forgot. Your post made me write on a post it note and stick on monitor. If I remember, I'll answer both after talking to easy pass in the morning.

                Thanks to you both!

Q: Can vehicles share an E-ZPass transponder?
A: While the sharing of transponders among vehicles of the same classification is not prohibited, the Ohio Turnpike recommends that customers obtain one transponder per vehicle in order to avoid any complications or delays in travel that may occur due to missing or mismatched transponders.

Will check on getting a second responder tomorrow.

Portage Indiana would be a good first night's stop for us. Any one from the Canadian group make any plans? How about anyone else coming from further East? Any plans for where to stop etc?

Check with Mike Kearns (MEK04) as I believe they will be staying at the Hampton Inn in Portage on Sunday for the night. We will be meeting up with them in Onalaska on Monday night before moving on to Mitchell for a Tuesday night stay.

Look forward to meeting up with you on this trip.

Last minute planners here. Heck, we don't even have reservations for the pets at the kennel yet! So far all we know for sure is that we are leaving NH on Saturday Sept 5th.

Looking forward to meeting you also Ted. Mike has graciously contacted me so I guess I'll have to pass for Canadian to be part of the Canada Caravan. Reservations made for Sunday and Monday in Portage In. and Onalaska WI respectively. Looks like our 7 night trip will require us to be in the car a max of 5.5 hours on the longest day.

                            Thanks to you and Mike.

Bill: That's great to hear. Look forward to seeing all of you in Onalaska on Monday night. It looks like we will have a nine or ten hour day on Monday so we hope to make it there for supper with everyone.
