Thanks Harry. They told me at the dealer that I was in 7th place for ordering but somewhere along the line mine got moved up to 4th place. Everything sounds right, at least the way I remember it.

Yes, yours was the fourth one ordered and the fourth one built. I read somewhere else you said the dealer was allocated 20 Thunderbirds but he only ordered 14 of the 2002's. He sold 28 Birds for all four years of production.

OK, that number was a guest-a-met. It's been over 11 years ago and a little hard to remember all the facts.

He very well could have been allocated 20 but never used his full allotment. Or he could have swapped six Tbirds with other dealers.

Thanks for the quick reply Harry but I may have made a mistake reading the VIN. It was a black car with full red accent interior. Most likely should have been 00311. still a very early number. Thought it may have been a Canadian export but not on my list.

There were 1,407 2002's black with full red interiors. Of those there were 31 with "100xxx" for the last six in the VIN. None of these 31 had a 3 and a 1 (or 1 and 3) in any combination, in any position, for the last three digits.

The closest I think you might have seen was 110013 and that was a usa unit built on January 24 that went to Sutton Ford in Matteson, IL - (about 10 miles from me).

There were 219 black with full red interiors for 2002 sold in Canada. The four units of these 219 with 100xxx were 100259, 100375, 100379 and 100538.
