However 4y109557 was light ice blue... are you saying your dash VIN does not match the sticker VIN? Then yes, they goofed. Do you have the window sticker? I see both cars were built on the same day, - Ill bet the real 109657 Merlot is sporting a sticker that says it is Light Ice Blue - one car was probably right behind the other on the line, the guy (or gal) mis-read the VIN and grabbed the wrong sticker.... Ron, you sure have a talent for gathering really rare cars!!

I don't have rotation numbers. The rotation numbers would be several to many numbers apart anyway to allow for the Lincolns going down the line between Tbirds...

      • It is hard to understand how the door data sticker got separated from the anti-theft stickers. Chassis department does both.

When there is no other explanation, human error has to be the answer. Perhaps a different person puts the door sticker on. The guy looks at the VIN and goes to get the sticker and sees the 657 before the 557 and just remembers the 57. Wonder how many gallons of the wrong color pant get ordered by unsuspecting body shops...

I was having the front license plate bracket holes filled on the Light Ice Blue when we found this. The Ford dealer was having a hard time matching the paint. They called and told me the car had been in a wreck and the door had been replaced. I yelled BS and proceeded to go look for myself and found the Merlot sticker and wrong VIN on the door. Anti-theft sticker on the front of the door had the right number, there was no sign of a door being removed or repainted, so they backed off on car being wrecked. They had pulled the Ford information sheet and were using the correct color, but matching was just not going their way so they started looking to blame something else. I am wondering if anyone at Ford can get a correct data sticker for the door?

LaPhill claims to have Bill Fords phone number... as an alternative you can call WHQ as ask to be connected to Bill's office. One of his people should be able to get it handled far faster than you trying to work your way thru the Ford bureaucracy.

Ron it seems to me you just might want to keep the car with an anomaly like that in tact.

So far it seems I have no choice, but we are going to Michigan next week and I will ask around.

                      • 2Y11737 -- I was driving around town last Sunday & spotted this '02 blue in a driveway. No one was home, so I looked the car over: white seat inserts but with blue trim on shift knob & top of steering wheel. My thinking: somebody replaced the seats? These folks have no garage, so the car lives outdoors: Headlights & SPLs are as foggy as the Golden Gate Bridge on a cool San Francisco morning. I would like eventually to talk to the people & if they seem interested in talking Tbirds I'll give them your info. Thanks. New TBN membership here is possible. ---Will

Will, you are one digit short... assuming it ends in 737 it may be one of these '02 blues...

                          • Thanks for working on this, Quickdraw. I was reading their VIN squinting thru the windshield without my glasses on -- never a good idea. I went back today & talked to both of them. They said they ordered it on, I believe, May 01, 2001, at University Ford in Durham NC, It was delivered one year & three days later, so maybe the delivery date was May 3rd or 4th or 5th, 2002. I was also wrong about the seats inserts: not white, but it's got the partial blue interior. Unbelievable: 15 years old last May & only 23,000 miles on it. Can you work with that info? Very talkative couple, love their Tbird, but the guy -- about 6' 3" tall with a large tum-tum -- said he can't fit in it anymore. I believe it. He reminded me of the guy nicknamed "Goose" from the Baltimore Ravens. Huge. I told him to look up TBN & he said he would, but it seems certain they won't join us for any cruise-ins. Maybe just the Mrs., but I doubt it. Please let me know if you can come up with their info. I'll tell them TBN was my source & I bet they'll be impressed. Thanks. ---Will
