Good evening Harry. I would appreciate knowing more about my 05 Medium Steel Blue, last 5 numbers are 03108.
Can you determine who the receiving dealer was? I was told by the dealer that sold me the Bird that they were not, that they had made a dealer trade to have the medium steel blue at their location.
Also I have jotted down a note from back in 05 that this car's build number, whatever that is, is somewhere between 3091 to 3138. I have no idea where I got that information or just what heck it means. I say this because I think you mentioned early on in this thread that build number & vin number are not the same thing. That there isn't a numerical sequence to cars going through manufacture & their vin number. Very confusing. ????????
And when folks speak of build number, does that reflect the number of units per year? I ask because I bought the 05 in November of 04 so I'm trying to put together some sense to how the numbering system works. More out of curiosity than need to know

Mike, there were numerous topics and post back in 2002 and 2003 about the "sequence number". Do a search of sequence numbers.

The original ordering dealer was Lithia Ford in Richland, WA. I may have receiving dealer data somewhere but only readily find ordering and selling dealer info.

I wasn't there but assume they were built three months before any of the other Neimans for display and show cars. These two and the 20 other Tbirds made 3/14/2001 may not have been built with all certified parts or perhaps after three months they just had too much wear and tear on them to sell as brand new Neimans. But since the VINs assigned to these two were out of the NM sequence it appears they were meant to be scrapped before they were even built.

EDIT: The VINs for these first two were assigned on 10/26/2000 while the VINs for the other 200 were assigned on 10/20/2000 - so they were destined to be scrapped from the beginning.

The "one of" number I will give you is how many cars were made like yours. Things like rarer colors, unusual body and hardtop color combos, lack of hardtop, lack of color accented interior, lack of SST (for the 2003-2005s), and deluxe instead of premium model are factors that would significantly reduce the number of cars made like the more typically built units.<o:p></o:p>
