Yes, the car was ordered as a premium, that included the choice of 7 spoke chrome wheels or the 16 spoke machined wheels. If a customer wanted the deluxe model they had to accept the 16 spoke painted wheels.
Dot: digging deeper I now see that the three 2004 order code 120 with a hardtop were for Mexico.

I believe Premiums had Chromed wheels and Deluxe had aluminum painted wheels. Check:
the Portholeauthority.com. (At least in 2002 anyway)

What option made it a Premium model, I guess is my question.

The key is if one has the window sticker.

That's going to be fun some year if someone shows 1 of those 3 cars and gets docked for not having a premium style wheel on his car. Hope someone will still be around to sort it out with the judges!

Re: Random useless facts about 2002-2005 Thunderbirds
The deluxe was still available for the 2005s. Their order code would have been 100A. It basically refers to the style of wheel on the car. Deluxe models had the painted 16 spoke wheels (and were not machined on the "face" )
There were only 2 order codes for the 05s - 100A (deluxe models) and 130A (premium model) (not counting the limited edition code). Hardtops were an option only on the premium models.
All 2005 Deluxe models were topless and could not be ordered with a hardtop.
What was discontinued were the ordering codes, 110A, and 120A that were used in 2002 and 2003.
Harry & I discussed part of this last night via emails. I looked at the 2004 ordering sheets and noticed that Ford didn't make it clear to dealers that they had dropped the hardtop from the deluxe models AND Harry found someone had used the old ordering numbers of 110A and 120A for a very few cars early in production of the 2004s.
The 110A should have had the code 130A as it was a premium model.
and the 120A should not have been used at all.
110A = premium model without hardtop - the 2002-2003 definition (package)
120A =deluxe model with hardtop - the 2002-2003 definition (package)
What this means is that some early 2004 deluxe models came from the factory with hardtops and deluxe wheels.
The premium wheels, since there were 2 styles, were denoted by a separate code for both the 04 and the 05s.Last edited by 5bird7; Jul 23, 2014, 02:43 PM.

I also thought the 130A denoted a hardtop but Dot informs me that is only true for the 2002 & 2003s. If I understand her correctly the Deluxe was discontinued for the 2005 and maybe even the 2004.
Hopefully she will fill us in....
