All 2002-2005 Thunderbirds were equipped with traction control EXCEPT the 427 2002 Deluxe models ordered for the U.S. market. These are order code 100 (Deluxe without hardtop) and order code 120 (Deluxe with hardtop). Premium models for all years had the traction control as did all cars, including order code 100 & 120, built to the Canadian specs. There were no Thunderbirds built after 2002 without Traction Control.

      • I don't consider it a useless fact, but everytime I mention it to anyone, it seems that they kind of have a, "shazam" moment. Our 2002-2005 Thunderbirds are the only cars in the history of the automoble that have tail lights the same size and shape as the headlights. They are also positioned in the rear as the head lights are positioned in the front. A very cool styling design never really talked about.

Here's all four years data... The "# Dealer Stock" is the number of units that dealers ordered, as opposed to a customer order. Note the large percent of dealer orders for the yearly Special Edition models. That's reinforces my belief that the "Hero Cards" were directed toward the dealers to draw their attention to their uniqueness. I did a quick search but didn't find much to tell me the average number of days new cars sit on the lot waiting to be sold.

EDIT: Again, thanks to Dot, here is the reconstructed table that otherwise would have been lost due to conversion to this version of TBN.

              .
3710 Merlot in 2004? I never would have guessed that it sold more than the 2002 TB Blue.
2002 TB Motor Trend COTY Blue/White/Full #24737 (One of 291)

              2015 Passat SE TDI 150HP/236FP (40MpgCity47MpgHW) 720MR
26Mpg in traffic jam. Skill required to get 40+mpg in town.

That # doesn't include the customer ordered tbirds. It's the number that the dealer ordered for his own stock. The 02 blue had the 3rd highest sales with black and red above it. Merlot was #5 in total sales and 2nd highest for the one year fashion colors. #4 was the whisper white in total sales. I think there is another table that shows the complete totals for each color besides the one that is on my webpage.
Here's a file that Harry posted somewhere else on this thread.

In 2002 Evening Black, then Thunderbird Blue then Torch Red is the way my tired eyes see it on the chart.

correct for the 2002 year but we were talking about the thunderbird blue and the Merlot (which started this particular discussion) from two different columns (years) so you need to read numbers in the last column. Thunderbird blue sold 3400 more units than the Merlot.

The chart posted from Quickdraw shows only the numbers ordered for the dealership and doesn't include the customer orders totals. He was making a point about customer orders went down with each passing year for this model.

Combined in my post is the chart showing all of the orders built, customer and dealership.

Using the numbers from the chart, 7406 for the TB and 3991 for the Merlot the TB out sold the Merlot by 3415. But there was additional months of 2002 production.

Kinda like the doors on my Metropolitan. From the outside they look like they would fit on either side (except for the door handles).

very interesting to see which colors were popular in that part of the Nation. Kind of a surprise to see out of the 82 Inca Gold Texas has two.

Dot makes at least three. She bought hers in Florida and drove it back to Texas.
