    Re: Random useless facts about 2002-2005 Thunderbirds

    Keep em coming Harry....what fun! I guess my car didn't come with a heater knowing it would never see snow. I can remember in 1970 in Jacksonville, Fl. I took my then car in for an oil change. When the worker saw the plug in hanging out of the grill he called over to his fellow workers 'looky here, it is one of them lectric carz'...

      Number of engine block heaters for each year
      2002 = 2,544
      2003 = 774
      2004 = 494
      2005 = 298
      In the assembly plants those block heaters were used to make tea.

        (might get to change my web description for the 2002s if all of those 191 with TCs were from Canada).

          All 191 were USA orders... all Canadian Spec cars, premium or deluxe, with or without hardtop, did have TC.

            The dead give away was probably the 10,000 mile long extension cord attached to the plug.

              More useless info:
              For 2004 and 2005 model years, the boot was not standard equipment. There were a whopping 1,091 2004s ordered without the boot. That's about 8-1/2% of the 12,757 made that year. By 2005 apparently the dealers caught on that the boot was no longer standard and there were only 175 cars ordered without the boot. That's less than 2% of the 9,295 built for model year 2005.

                  I have one of those 2004's ordered with out the boot, the VMG. I bet that makes it more rare than Blackbeauty.

                    Ross for the Facsimile window stickers I have done (thought I did one for you??) I am inserting $125 for the boot (and $135 for the select shift). Believe those are correct. (I hope).

                      Dealer invoice price for the boot varied from $100 to $112 depending on Canadian or USA delivery, as well as date ordered.

                      The invoice price for the SST was $116

                      Bill, your prices sound correct for the window sticker price.

                        The 8 most popular colors were 86.45% of the total production. or 6.38 times the other 9 colors. How's that for some useless facts Harry?

                          Great useless fact! You can't argue that black and red were the most common colors but it's not fair to compare colors offered for all five years to those only available for one year. I could make a case that Merlot was the most popular color. But I'm sure you meant "numerous" instead of "popular".

                              Also the first two 2005 Steel Blue's carried paint code SB where the rest of the year paint code was SP. The first two Steel Blues were: 1FAHP60A15Y100004 & 1FAHP60A35Y100005.

                                Imagine the fun someone with one of those 5 birds would have showing up at a body shop looking to get something repainted. Great thread Harry - keep'em coming
