We purchased an 05 MSB on May 11, 2005; VIN #1FAHP60AX5Y102446. It was assembled in Sep 04 but I'd like to know the day in Sep. The transmission recall affects 05s assembled prior to September 23rd. I asked our dealer about the recall when we made the purchase. Said he'd get back to us. He phoned the next day and said he checked (don't know with who) and our car was not affected by the recall. When I asked him about the hard top tape, he said he installed it himself. Took the hard top off a few weeks ago; no tape. Makes me wonder about the recall he said he checked for us.

I haven't been around very long on TBN, so I don't know exactly what's up with all of this. But from a few quick searches, my understanding is that Quickdraw/Harry left TBN because of some personal differences between him and various other members. Looking at some of Quickdraw's contributions -- not least of which was the information provided to many members in this thread and others like it -- I'm left thinking that his decision to leave was unfortunate for all of us, but of course that was entirely his call. I read in recent postings in this thread that there was at least one other member (MichaelM) who had access to the type of info being provided in this thread, but that he would not provide it out of respect for Quickdraw. Again, I feel that choice is extremely unfortunate for the rest of the members, particularly us newbies, but comnpletely his call.

So... this is the first time I've been bummed about something T-Bird related on this site; I'm left with a sinking feeling that I was a little late to this particular party. I sure would like to know how many of my particular choice were made in 2005, and what the various dates, etc. were for my bird. I can't help but wonder if there's anyone else out there who has access to this sort of information and who would be willing to provide it. Anybody know someone like that? Anybody williing to fill this particular void?

There must be many members who either didn't ask for this info before Quickdraw decided to leave, or who, like me, joined TBN after that event. And given that 2005 production just recently ceased, the final production numbers required to be able to say "yours was __ out of ____ like that made in 2005" would have become available just within the last few days. I can't speak for all, but I know that I would be very appreciative of anyone who could and would take up these reins.

I have actually tried that excellent idea. Have not heard back though. Tried a PM too, but his stored messages exceed the allowed quota, so no dice there. I'll post here if I hear back from him via email.

Harry did reply to the email I sent him. He is still willing, via email, to provide the type information that he had previously provided in this thread. For date info, he needs your VIN. For the, "yours is 1 of ____ made" info, he needs a description of your car, as per the older posts in this thread (deluxe vs. premium, color, and options).

I must say, IMHO, it's awfully nice of Harry (Quickdraw) to continue providing this service, even after he left TBN. Thanks Harry.
