    Re: Where are the cashmeres?

I finally got to see a cashmere up close and personal today. I didn't think the body-colored grille would work as it would be too "truck-like" , but it looked pretty good. Maybe this question has already been posed, but are there after-market body-colored grilles for all of the other Tbird colors?

      Re: Where are the cashmeres?

[QUOTE=heversole]I have to admit that since I got my bird, whenever I see a thunderbird no matter what color, what year I think that is the most beautiful car on the road. I even started looking into ebay for the classic birds.

      Hoi Harry,

I don't think there is a cure for this disease. But I can tell you you are not the only one around having it. Reading your first lines I must say they sounded very familiar

Hi folks, If you haven't registered your cashmere, how about doing it now? I checked the registry and there are only 13 Cashmeres listed. There have to be more here than that. It would track our cars a little easier than trying to just remember or re-reading what's on this post.

                      Hey guys -

Some time back I read where someone installed a satellite antenna in the trunk of their T-Bird....who was that. I would like to talk to them prior to getting my Syrius Satellite System installed. Thanks.

                        Re: Where are the cashmeres?

Search for satellite radio and you won't have any trouble finding pictures and descriptions of this installation. Very simple. The cross frame in the trunk is fiberglass just as the deck lid is and they are both transparent as far as radio waves is concerned. Remove the gray felt cover from the inside of the trunk lid, find a place on the center rib of the cross frames, put the antenna on it upside down, trace the bottom of it with a felt tip pen. Drill a hole inside that traced pattern and use any kind of knife or hacksaw blade to cut it a little smaller than the pattern. Use a file to smooth it out and make it a little smaller than the bottom of the antenna so it will fit up into the hollow frame but not fall into it. Either glue it or put a piece of metal across the bottom and screw it on either side of the rib (recommended since the metal will help the reception) and put it back together. Run the wire around the weatherstripping of the trunk and into the trunk down the hinge of the deck lid and run it to wherever you need to connect it. Very easy. I had the radio installed by my dealer (bad idea, it wasted a couple of hundred dollars), but they ignored my instructions and glued it to the deck lid. I took it off, put it in the trunk and didn't notice the slightest diminution of signal strength. Besides, it was flat black and ugly on my VMG.

There was another Cashmere bird in the Cleveland aera I met last month, it had a three digit number. He came to our T-Bird show and was killed and the car was totaled on the way home. The show was at a local Ford dealer and they had a Cashmere Bird on the showroom floor, I could not tell the color in the showroom, but when he arrived and I saw the color in the sun I was hooked. On Monday I went back and traded in my 02 Bird for the Cashmere.
