  • Something Evil for Halloween

I have something creepy with the ol bird.
I periodically get the problem where the alarm comes on when I try to start it, but you good guys fixed by letting me know it was probably the low battery. I went to the battery shop, and the good man there tested it and said it was very low, but my battery was fairly recent and was holding a charge (not 3 yrs old). He also tested the charging system with the bird idling, he said the alternator etc was doing its job like a champ. His conclusion was that maybe an electrical short somewhere that is causing the battery to discharge after its been parked for a while.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the CD changer is the evil gremlin preying on my beautiful bird. It makes some weird ungodly whirring noises after I've switched the engine off, anyone had any experience with such torment?

On the brighter side, I got new headlights today courtesy of my mate Sam, aka General Zhukov, but alas I still need to find a driver side hardtop spacer, as things are still going bump back there in the night.

Your battery can die at any time, 3 years and low doesn't sound good. As others have said, weird things with a going south battery. The radio/CD turns off after the key is removed and the door opened, I don't think it's the culprit. Do you have anything plugged into the cigarette lighter, since it remains live key, or no key. Best of luck.

The theory I’ve heard is that the various modules continue to communicate with each other even when the car is off. This causes premature draining if the car sees infrequent use.

Does the CD changer sound like it’s trying to change CDs? That’s the only time that I hear noises.
