I took that course back in my youth and they did remove some points. That was back when I used to speed. I doubt that he’ll want to travel all the way back from Ohio to take the class.

About 20 years ago I got the points removed by taking the class online when I lived in Illinois. Indiana, where I now live, also has online courses to remove points as does New Jersey.

How do I avoid points on a speeding ticket in NJ?
Here are three of them:

1. Taking a defensive driving program offered by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission can remove two (2) points.
2. A Driver Improvement or Probationary Driver Program can remove up to three (3) points.
3. Going one year with no violations or suspensions will remove three (3) points.
