  • NEW TIRES!

Got my new tires installed today. Firestone, Firehawk Indy 500s. $125 Ea. on Amazon. I must say, I like them a lot! If you live in the southland, I recommend them bunches. Up north, they are summer tires only. The bird comes out of a hard corner like it's on rails, and finds center with no hunting. They are quiet and nice riding at 75 mph on I-30 here in NE Texas. I went with the 235/55 R17 size from the recommendations on this page. LOVE EM!

Here's the hype from Firestone... "The Firehawk Indy 500 tire is Firestone’s ultimate in sport performance, inspired by our racing heritage - ultra-high summer performance at a great value. Proprietary Pulse Groove™ technology improves water evacuation and helps increase resistance to hydroplaning for more control on wet roads.* Improved wet rubber compound and tread design provides 20% shorter stopping distance on wet roads*, while wide shoulder blocks deliver impressive handling and cornering in dry conditions. If you’re a car enthusiast looking for a tire that can provide extreme performance and extreme fun, this is the tire for you."

I don't know about all that... but they are way nicer than the Falken Ziex that I replaced.

I had those tires on a previous "classic" we had ('94 Chevy Caprice wagon, with LT1 V8 and Impala SS add-ons). Liked them. Currently we have Firehawk Wide Oval A/S tires on the '04 Bird, but in 18" size (aftermarket wheels). Also good.

I have the same tires on my daily and my Tbird and I like them a lot, very smooth, not too loud and great in the rain.
