  • Ford/Lincoln/Mercury Dealership Oil Change Special

First my Lincoln/Mercury and now my Ford Dealership are currently offering a special on Oil Changes. They have each assured me this is being offered across the US.

    4 Oil Changes for $40.00 + tax

They use the proper Motorcraft filters, and Oil.

Pay for the four changes upfront for any Ford/Lincoln or Mercury vehicle.

I've purchased the Special for my '02 Bird, '94 Lincoln TownCar, and even my '57 Baby Bird!!
Every other change I pay for "The Works" and the next I'll use my pre-payed coupon.

That would be a welcome sight. Took my wife's 500 to my Ford dealer Saturday for oil change only. Picked it up and bill was forty one dollars and some change. I complained to the Service Manager and he passed it off as price of oil going up. Looked at oil and it was at $4.00 per quart. Told SM where I work our Synthetic blend made by Valvoline and marketed as Cummins Premium Blue 15W40 was only $10.77 a gallon or $2.69 a quart. Highway robbery.

Talk about Highway Robbery, I took my 04 GMC pick-up in to the dealer for an oil change, they had a $9.95 special. I had a running light burnt out in my grill so I told them to replace it. I had though about replacing it myself till I opened the hood to see were it was, I could'nt even get my hand close to it. They charged me $7.58 for the bulb and $10.00 labor.

Sounds like I should stop by Blue Bonnet Ford and check this out. And if they are having this sale buy the coupon...

Assuming they are using Motorcraft oil & fiter, and Sal was assumed they were, it is a very good deal BUT, I suspect the interval will be limited to the Ford recommended one which would mean every 5K miles - not whenever you decide to have it done.

Re: Ford/Lincoln/Mercury Dealership Oil Change Special

Do they mean to include a new filter? If so, perhaps they might mention it. The filter used in our cars is not cheap, in fact you would be hard pressed to find four of them for $40. Something funny going on here. The cheapest I have seen is at least twice that and closer to four times $10. I would be glad to do it and I suppose they might be using this as a loss leader to get you in and get more work from all of us, but as we know, all that will accomplish is complaining about high labor charges.

I just went on the Ford website and they have a special identified as "The Works" which includes the proper oil and filter and a few other items like rotating tires etc and the cost was $39.95, which is a realistic price and not unfair, in my opinion.

Maybe that 4 for $40 was a local promotion or maybe it will show up later. Ford isn't all that swift about modern communications. I am still getting emails and mailed literature offering me special deals on service at my local dealer who has been closed for almost a year now.

Re: Ford/Lincoln/Mercury Dealership Oil Change Special

I remember an old story ,A man brings his father to the U.S. from Europe. The father ask

"how do I make a living here".

The son tells him he will sell handkerchief's today on a pushcart.
"They will cost .10cents and you will sell them for .10 cents today".

"But I'll make no profit ".

The son tells the old man "Today you do business ,tomorrow you make profit".

When I have my vehicle serviced I look around the show room and at the accessories. If everything is done correct I return to the same dealer.I'm always receiving e-mails and mail coupons from Ford and L/M. Lastone was $14.99 oil change from Ford.

Re: Ford/Lincoln/Mercury Dealership Oil Change Special

HUH... I have been getting that up here at my dealership for a little over a year now, except I didn't have to pay for all four up front, just mark my card and the fifth one is free; they moved to a new location and have a state of the art showroom and service dept, very nice, only thing missing is the finger food and German accent.
Up to that point they were the oldest Ford dealer in the same location, they still have one of the first model T's they got from Ford way back when on display at the old location, now the used car place for them.
As for the filter and oil, it is the correct FoMoCo oil and filter they have been using...now if I could just find that card they use to keep track.
                    OOPS...I just went to there website and they are now making the same offer, sure hope my four punch card is still good: here is the url for the special;

Hmm.....I just paid $39.95 about 3 or 4 weeks ago to get the oil changed on the 05 Thunderbird using the Quicklane service at Team Ford. I had "The Works Fuel Saver" special and thought it was pretty fairly priced.

                      http://www.quicklane.com/lube_services.do

I couldn't find any other oil change specials on the Ford or the Quicklane websites.

When it comes to my Birds, I don't assume anything. I stand there and watch the products they use, what the tech does, and how he does it.

The tech that worked on my '02 did such a thorough job, I insisted the same fellow work on my '57. He used the proper Motorcraft filter, and Motorcraft oil. As a matter of fact, we had to wait for the proper oil for the '57, as they were either out, or don't routinely keep it on hand. Needless to say, I'll make sure they have it on hand when I take it in the future.

BUT, I suspect the interval will be limited to the Ford recommended one which would mean every 5K miles - not whenever you decide to have it done.

I didn't ask about intervals, but, as you know, there are two guidelines...mileage and time. I'm sure they would honor either.

Yes, a new Motorcraft filter is included. I've never taken a car for an oil change where they didn't change out the filter.

                          I know it's a GREAT deal...that's why I'm telling you about it.
I usually buy my Motorcraft filters from an auto parts wholesaler...he can't beat this special.

I would be glad to do it and I suppose they might be using this as a loss leader to get you in and get more work from all of us, but as we know, all that will accomplish is complaining about high labor charges.

A lot more goes into the strategy of a "loss leader" than that. They get you in the door, and while you wait, you might check out a vehicle on thier lot or showroom floor, check out the latest accessories, clothing, new wheels...anything to entice you to spend more money in the down time.
I don't have any down time...I watch my vehicle.

"The Works" package is a Good deal, and that's why I use it every other oil change interval. I just don't think I need my tires rotated with every oil change

Maybe that 4 for $40 was a local promotion

As I mentioned in my first post, both Dealerships told me this special is nation-wide.

George Lang asked about it at his local Ford Dealership, and they told him it was offered to all, the Dealership has a choice to "opt in", or "opt out". I think it's worth a phone call, or two.
