    Re: Luggage Rack: The Install

    Mike, I have looked at several types of luggage and actually put some on the rack. Depending on the size and height, you can see on either side of the luggage as well as above it. Also, I have looked at some nice luggage at a local Harley-Davidson store. Of course, if you put a bale of hay on it , you won't see out the back window.

      Aaron;

      What would be the chances of you guys including small pieces of the 3M or Mylar strips in you rack kit to protect the trunk lid from any possible scuffing or sctatching?

        Hi Mark,

        Martin is right, I do like chrome (stainless) and have a few custom pieces inside and out on my 02 Black Retro. I will in all likelihood have the rack on just to try it out on our first road trip of the 09 season.

        As for the single red pin stripe that will be on there too! How else would I know my Black Retro-Bird from all the others! Remember they made more Black ones than any other color.............are there any other colors?

            You have missed my point entirely, to each his own

                Re: Luggage Rack: The Install

                Hi Mart,
                The 1/4" rubber-vinyl feet that come standard with this new Trunk Rack will protect your Tbird's trunk deck perfectly. Just be sure that the Trunk is clean from dirt.

                As for the question about the luggage blocking the rear view; we have a 1963 serro scotty 13' 1000 pound trailer that we have towed and it blocks the rearview mirror 100%. I got pulled over by the friendly highway patrol because I was doing 70 mph with a trailer. The officer told me that as long as I had side mirrors then we were ok.

                Laws are different per state. This was in California.

                I hope this helps.

                ps (I have been wanting to post a picture of the Serro Scotty Trailer with the Tbird for a few years now but have not got around to it. We refurbished the trailer almost all the way and it's the funnest little tear drop looking trailer that fits right in with these retro birds. I will post some this summer after our next highway 1 road trip up to Oregon.)

                OK.... now let the "trailer trash" jokes come a flyin..

                    Thunderbird Concepts makes a nice rack, and the extra goodies are a nice touch, however, we (Powersport) offer a new removable luggage rack that fits in the trunk, and sells for $ 100 LESS than the T-Bird Concepts rack. Also, ours is made of thicker stainless steel tubing and is also American made. You can view photos of our new rack at: www.powersportcars.com. Or feel free to post any questions on this forum.
