Special anniversaries this year

Today marks the 12th Anniversary of the introduction of the Concept Thunderbird.

On Saturday, the 8th, it will be the 10th Anniversary of the Introduction of the Production Thunderbird (and the 5 colors were shown for the first time).

Then we get to June 5 which is the official "Job 1" of our Thunderbirds. (preproduction T-birds had been on the production line since mid-March)

On November 21, 2001, The Thunderbird was Named Motor Trend's 2002 Car of the Year.

Saturday, January 8th, marks the 10 year anniversary when Margaret and I made our official deposit on our WW T-Bird. The dealership had been holding our check since November 2000. The rest is history.

If I remember right we placed our order in Dec. 2000. Then the long wait for 13 month until it came in. As you know, the Blues were the last to go into production. Well worth the wait and our Blue was the first Blue our dealer got in. Every salesman there was in the parking lot looking it over.

Thankfully, our local dealer didn't take deposits, sold the cars at sticker, and the owner called me the day that I could place an order and was allowed to request the 1st of their 3 car allotment for 2002. Very exciting day, to say the least.
