  • Vortex Fuel Maximazer?

When I bought my '04 the original buyer gave me the Window Stickers.
There was one that was for Dealer Installed Options. The Dealer installed a "VORTEX FUEL MAXIMAZER" FOR $595. Can anyone tell me what a VFM is? Would appreciate - thanks.

Dick, Do a Google search on this, sounds like a dealer rip-off.

Thanks for your responses. I -googled- and found multiple entries for both Maximazer & Maximiser. There have Dealers sued & fined. I has been well established in the courts that is/was fraud. I guess my next question is: If the first owner didn't try or get money refunded, do I have a claim?

ALSO---- DO YOU THINK I SHOULD HAVE IT REMOVED?
I haven't had a problem with the engine AND on 2 recent 900
mile trips, I averaged just over 26 mpg.

If you didn't pay the money to have it installed and unless you can substantiate a claim for damages to your car, then I would say you don't have any grounds for a law suit.

As for leaving it in your car, it won't hurt it. I found that my 02Retro Bird and my 95 Lincoln Mark VIII both had them in the air intake when I purchased them and I feel the cars get excellent gas milage for V8's. I get similar milage on my Retro and my Lincoln with the 4.6 ltr 4 ohc 32 valve with port fuel injection gets about 30 mpg on the highway.

As a matter of fact, I drove the Lincoln today and checked the computer which showed it was getting 29.7 mpg doing 65 mph. Now whether that is because of the vortex or not, I can't say one way or the other.

So you be the jugde. Take it out and see if your milage is impacted, if it goes down then you will know, if it doesn't leave it out.....simple.
