To those of you that have added these to your Retro Bird I have a question.
Did you drill holes to attach or grind down the bolt and use 3M tape to attach?

No holes, no way. Two sided 3M automotive trim tape.

Same here, 3M tape, I ground the post off and actually filled the voids on the back of the emblem with body filler (from a tube) and sanded smooth before adding tape.

I just filled the void with more 3M tape

Just a hint, if you wet the fender area with water first and just touch the emblem lightly to the fender you can slide it into place then press firmly.

Thanks to all, that's what I thought. What kind of filler do you use?

What do you think about painting the V the Teal color of out Thunderbird emblems?

I'm planning on getting the pin stripe painted on soon and want to do it the same color of the emblems also. I have a Cashmere Bird and the teal really looks good in my opinion. So with the V being the same color I think it would all blend together well. I also have ordered the headrest & visor wraps in teal, should be here in about a month.

Any opinions?

I just used a 3M body filler, came in a tube about the size of a small toothpaste, figured it would give more solid / flat surface for tape to adhere. I also have a Cashmere and left mine red, but I also added a red pinstripe. Seems like I remember seeing a gallery photo where someone painted theirs teal, looked good.

Mine just came yesterday from Hills Thunderbird .Total for both with shipping was 42.00.

Bradford that look great. I plan on putting the stripe in the indention of the body, one stripe about half the width of the indention on the outside edge narrowing at the backend, and one on the sides of the hoodscoop.

Painting it teal is a nice idea.

The original used on the baby Birds, the engine block was painted red to represent the actual red painted 'Y' block under the hood. With the engine dress up kit it was a stunning look to peek under the hood.

Didn't know that, My 55 does have the dress up kit and the engine was just repainted about 2 years ago, you gotta love it!

Yep! That's why I would prefer anyone adding the V8 emblem to their retro keep the Y block red.

It is heritage!

BUT it is not my car, its their car & their choice and best of all it all looks good.

I used the 3M for application. I painted the back of it teal just to see what it would look like and held it up to the car. Didn't care for the look so I left mine red.
