        • Since Paul alluded to his trunk, I suspect that DavidA got the right event but I think it was a "trunk show". I do have a pic of Paul's clean trunk. Would show a pic of our trunk but George kept getting in the way rearranging stuff so never got one.

Wrong event, but another fun "car show".

Here's the certificate Dot is referring to:

I believe the hard to read signature is Gerald Best (Jerry Best). Doug's picture seems to confirm this.

Checking an old thread seems to confirm this. Sally appears to have won the award for "messiest glove box" as well. Not sure who all the judges were, but Bunny Lou and Margaret definitely were.

Correct on 3 out of 4. Dennis Christensen (Chriscrete) did the usual fine job on these plaques as he routinely does with event name tags and other plaques/memorabilia.

Here's a picture of the actual plaque:

It seems the trunk was one of the categories of the day as were the glove box, front fascia and slow drags. There were probably others.

Comments from Judge Lou indicated the $50 I left in the trunk may have swayed the judges more than anything else. Any body that knows me, knows that definitely didn't happen. Of course, Charlie wanted to know if I always carried a large black trash bag to put stuff in as he found one near my car with a bunch of trunk junk in it.

Trunk cleaning seems to be something that I excel at, especially in the desert. This quote from Jeff Poole regarding Desert Thunder I car show awards 4 years earlier shows that our trunk is a double award winner:

"We had our Desert Thunder show and shine on Fremont Street Saturday morning. Judging was TBird Tim, Jerry from Kustomotive 2000 and myself. No one knew exactly what was being judged so most were ready for your normal classes, well how do you judge a new car ??? I came up with a few new catagories and Tim help fine tune them and here they are with the winners:

Most bugs on the bumper: Dave & Karen Tallha (Red Bird Dave)
Don't post a picture Dave it was ugly.

Cleanest / Coolest trunk area: Paul & Rosetta Thomas (2K2BIRD)
Post a picture some time Paul so others can see what you have done."

What a great thing to be known for, ha.

Thanks. Can't get anything past you and Ron.

The characture was done by a guy at our local Ford dealership's Customer Appreciation Day over 10 years ago. Just happened to have on the Merlot cap with the Thunderbird emblem on it.
