Sometimes the DMV can be ridiculous. Here in OR, we are allowed 6 letters with up to 2 spaces or dashes. Her name is "Sue" and she drives a Subaru, so she wanted Su-baru, but that was taken, so she opted for Sue-bru. The kicker is, the DMV wouldn't allow it, because it was supposedly a reference to alcohol. I wrote a scathing letter to them in defiance, but never heard a peep back. She finally picked something that was less problematic.
To be honest, I was attracted to the new Thunderbird because I liked the way it looked already and I think that some of these after market add-ons just kind of spoil the original concept. After saying that, the chrome trim for the hood scoop is a nice touch and actually adds to the look of the car rather than taking away. This is just my very humble opinion.
I'm sure that if these T-Birds all came with lots of chrome details, within a few months there would be a bunch of enthusiasts who would strip all the chrome and make everything body colored....??....
I might get round to the chrome hood scoop and may eventually fit the cold air intake and new muffler system with some more noticable tail pipes and I did like them small turbine spinners that fit in the exhaust. They are real Mickey Mouse but our grandaughter would love them.
Gordon, IMO even if the name is used by a TBNer in another state and not in GA, go for it if you like it. I'm with you on basic black, I hate to do anything to ruin the Amish look of it :).

I almost did BRDBRN but went with BLUBRD for the 05 and LUVBRD for the 02...BLKBRD was taken....expensive in RI though...around80.00 initial fee, 25.00fee to pick up the plate and around 100.00 per year for registration...also, it takes at least 2-3 months to get the plates and only 6characters allowed...the special plates really add something to an already awesome car.
I had a 1970 Corvette roadster a few years ago and tried to get 70VETT but it was taken so I settled for 70-VET. 70 year old vetinarian some might think? It worked for me, and no one ever asked me about it. Leroy
Perhaps Gordon isn't the only one with an odd sense of humor (which he writes "humour") or maybe he & I just don't take this license plate business as seriously as the governor ("governour" to you, G.) expects us to. Back in the late 1970s I had for several years a personalized No.Carolina plate: NUMBER.
That ended a few years later when I applied for & received X (yes, just the single letter X).
Checking into a motel doesn't get any easier. Whereas I used to print NUMBER on the registration form where it asked for my license plate number, now I put an X and . . .
well. it takes some explanation on my part. I've had X for about 3 decades now & I think my wife is getting a bit weary of it all.
About 10 years ago X was on Shari's Mazda & she was stopped by 3 police cars, guns drawn, because one of them, a State Trooper, entered X in his computer, the computer gave him a false code ("stolen car, apprehend with caution") & he had called for backup. The next day I went to the DMV & had X switched to my SUV. Got Shar "Save the wild dolphins" or something.
Sorry about the mis-spell. That's my English english as opposed to American English. I've got used to most of the differences but for some reason them 'o' or 'ou' still catch me out. 'Colour' and 'Harbour' are two more. That is the English way to spell but they are spelled that way because they are originally French words I believe.
Gordon.
