Ok, It's my turn to stir the pot. I've read all the posts on the trunk rack. Here's my take. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As I stated in new members forum I'm a big fan of the TV show Route 66. How would Todd and Buz ever toured without that Trunk rack? It looked and worked perfectly on that Corvette.(It should have been a T-Bird.) We all should get together in Seligman, AZ and prove that point. Well anyway I've had my 2002 early bird since May 2008 and can't wait to put the rack on Monday when it gets delivered. What do you all think?

I think the removable rack is fine it has no ill effects on the car as long as you don't drill any holes and on another subject back in the 70's I was stationed at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas and had a good friend named Jim Erdman haven't seen or heard from him in almost 30 years and he's from Wisconsin as well so I have to ask is he any relation?

Hi Gary, I don't think we are related. I don't remember a Jim in the family. Looks like the last name only has 1 n. I'll give more feedback on the rack next week if I can get installed.

As long as you don't drive your car through my living room, I think what you do with your car is fine with me.

I live on a corner lot, so I want to include bedrooms, trees and mailbox. But if you must hit something, please feel free to mow down the fence as it needs replacing anyway.

Saw the installation photographs on another thread and am more impressed than I thought I would be. Back in the day, when I had my '73 Big Bird, I always thought that the short trunk lid it had would have looked great with a luggage rack. But with the trunk it had, there was no need for one.

Ok, It's time to add to this thread. The trunk rack in my opinion is a perfect addition. Now, I have just found the solution to the add on soft luggage. Menards Home Improvment Centers has a line of 600 denier nylon ATV waterproof luggage. Less than $50.00 per set. About 10" deep and is wide as the rack. I bought two different sets today. One is rectangular, the other has a twist with two small cooler sections. Pictures to follow. Also, found at Walmart, called SmartStraps. They are a cambuckle lashing strap 12' in long. Light duty. Two per pack. very small buckles.

I think you should find another pot to stir. This topic was beat to death on the other threads (JMO)

Hi Mike, great opinion, As of today, no one has an option as to what is available that could be used as something that could be tied down to the trunk rack. Past threads have mentioned a lot of high dollar options, ie leather with special straps. This is in my opinion a less expensive option. $45.00 each

I just put the luggage on. I have not been on a long trip as of yesterday. Why would you get any wind off the rack. The luggage is too far back to act as a wind baffle. I guess you have to be sure that you check the tension on the straps so you don't lose anything.

Love the Lugage Idea and Perfect Fit! We dont have Menards Home Improvment Centers in this area. - Would they be another name in the South? What is the Brand of the Lugage?
Thanks Great information - I too Love the Racks! When we had a 1980 Honda Accord with a rack We ALWAYS used it on trips to Florida - typically to put soiled clothes in - I usually used a Plastic Box and just used bungies to hold it in place!
Looks Like what you found was made for the Rack! ! ! ! Maybe I can buy the lugage direct?!?!
