Re: 55th Anniversary travel home check in

Louise and I made home at 4:30 with only one traffic delay due to construction.
We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the activities and all the people.
Thank you Paul and your crew for a well planned and action packed event.

Don't recall seeing any Martin. But we did see an "ELEPHANT" at the host hotel. Not kidding.

Great rally. Thanks to Paul and all his assistants who made their club proud. Norma and I had a great time meeting old friends and making new ones. But we missed alot of folks who we hoped would be there. Interestingly, Kevin Toohey, who posted above, your ears shold be ringing along with Dino, Wes, Bruce, Chuck, Phil, Mike, another Bruce, John (bling king), Chris (s), Ole Dave, Sally, Gene, Borla Babe and Sugar Babe, David A, Fritz, Leisha, Ski, and too many others to remember. It was a personal treat to see Dan and Joanne Campau (ylo brd) who hosted us all back in 2003 when we attended Ford's Centennial. Oh yes, we arrived home in Carlisle at 5:30 PM without incident.

Here is a link to my pictures from the event:

Pictures of pretty much every kind of Bird that was there, along with some pictures of the elephant. Many of you may find your car somewhere in these pictures, and if anyone wants to forward the link to some of the vintage Bird owners who may be interested, that's fine.

I'm spending the night in Joplin, Mo. Drove thirteen hours, just a little bad weather.

Arrived Preston, Minnesoda about 6 PM. I came to northern Illinois then north in Wisconsin and drove across southen Wisconsin on county roads and then up the Mississippi River valley --partly in Wisconson and partly in Iowa. All on couty or state roads with the top down, except for a short rain interruption late this afternoon.
Plan to head south tomorrow after I visit the Luara Ingalls Wilder Museum. Thinking that I will make Kansas City tomorrow night and do some looking around KC before heading to OKC on Tuesday.

Added three more states to the map today, will update signature when I get home.
Dearborn was a great event, Thanks to Paul and Mark and all the other volunteers. Enjoyed seeing old friends and making new ones.

We had a great time, thanks to Paul and his crew for a great event. We made it in around 8:00 with a couple of shopping stops. Poured rain from Flint through to Gaylord.

Martin, the beer tent was great, nice to see everyone again.

Barb & I arrived home about 9:30 PM, no incidents. Only a little rain near York, PA. Got a little bit of a late start as we needed to make "just one more quick visit" to the gift shops at The Henry Ford and Greenfield Village. Ditto to all of the kudos to Paul & Mark and their club. And it was great to see old friends, and make some new ones. And to put faces to names. TBN Mid-Atlantic had a good showing (photos to follow soon). For those who couldn't make it (Bob M-fums6) covered these pretty thoroughly, you were missed. See you in September??

Re: 55th Anniversary travel home check in

We just got home about 25 minutes ago (10:30 PM)...L-O-N-G day. We left at 6:30 this morning, but took a slight 1 hour detour to Kent, Ohio to see my alma mater (Kent State Univ) and where I lived many, many years ago. Driving by the house of a friend of my dad's from 55 yrs ago, I saw him come out the front door. I called out, "Mr Wallace"! and when I said my name, he instantly said, "Ed's daughter"! - He's 90 now, and that was another bonus for me for this trip!
We had some slow going on the PA turnpike, and the next delay was just 20 minutes from home...took another hour to get through the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel.
Thanks to all who worked so hard for this event, especially Paul. It was a great showing of so many Birds, and Charley & I were glad we got to be part of it!
Oh - Charley really enjoyed his first event! Thanks to y'all for welcoming him!

11 hours 35 minutes door to door. No rain but had a close call in Hagartown MD when someone wanted to be in the same spot in the lane we were occupying. Drove me onto the shoulder but no collision.

Darsi.... great photos thanks for posting.

Left early Sunday thinking I may stay overnight in Tennessee but the traffic was light (until I hit Atlanta) so I decided to make it all in one hop.

Got in by mid-afternoon in time to meet my wife for dinner in Stone Mountain, Ga.

Thanks to Paul for setting things up. Enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new ones.
