All 3 pieces of my Bird's reveal have hail damage, but the chrome is in great shape. Has anybody tried paintless dent removal service on their reveal pieces? I'm trying to avoid dropping $400+ on a new reveal.

I had no idea how thin the metal used in making the trim until I purchased and then removed the three pieces. Incredibly thin....but finding a quality professional in dent removal may turn out to be a good investment. I have seen some incredible work removing small dents. My trim was blistered with the chrome lifting from the base metal. Good luck!

My chrome trim was lifting a bit. Then it was ripped up while on the highway. Now it sits in the drive - duct taped. Sad sad sad.

It will take some time before more Thunderbirds are wrecked or beyond repair but that is when you should be trying to find bits of chrome plated pieces. The Ford parts are just out of sight, price wise. $400 for the (3) pieces of chrome around the windshield. I've had my windshield replaced twice due to stone chips that turned into cracks. The last time the installer bent one of the side pieces and ordered a replacement, over $150 to him. I kept the one with the tiny crease, you never know. If the chrome bubbles off, a little crease may be an improved look.

Did you not have it insured for comprehensive damage?

I did, but there was hardly any damage except for the chrome reveal. I couldn't afford to fix the small damage at the time. The same storm destroyed my 3 year old roof, and nearly totaled my SUV. The Bird was parked on other side of house and was mostly protected. The deductibles on house and cars were just too much. Now in a spot to get the Bird looking new again.

Anyone know the size socket for the nuts on the reveal molding?

Its been a while since I replaced mine...but I think 7mm comes to mind. It will need to be a deepwell socket. The pins are threaded only about 3/8 to 1/2 inch near the molding. Don't lose the nuts, they can easily fall into the darkness of the body molding never to be found!

I recently got an estimate to replate mine and it's competitive with replacement although the plater said the quality would be much better than factory plating. Toss up I suppose.
