I'll buy my next set of tires through DT, about a mile from us. They'll get me the 235-55-17 wide whitewalls I need from either DB Tires or Coker. Price will be the same as if I'd bought them directly, plus I'll guy a warranty on the tires from DT...talked with them a week ago when I had a screw taken out of the tires currently on the Bird.

He inspected my tires and found no issues, age or wear related, but also suggested I replace within the next year. He recommends I go with the cooper "Ultra Tour CS5" tire for the softer and quieter ride in the 55 width. He offered to wait until cooper offers some sale or dealer discounts usually in the September/ October time and he will call me to order a set. He thinks I will get the tires for under $600.00/set installed with high speed balance. He also recommends the Cooper over the Continental and I trust his judgement.
Billy.Tell the tire guy that the first number in the tire size relates to width IE: 225 235 etc. The 55 is the height of the tire from the tread to the wheel bead. IE: the aspect ratio. meaning the sidewall is 55 percent as high as thetire is wide. A 50% aspect ratio would mean the tire is 1/2 as tall from the tread to the bead as a percent of the tire width.

thinking of Continental DWS but Ron's strong recommendation has me thinking again. Above ratings from Ebay are also very convincing. 14 reviews, 12 five star and 2 four star. The 4 star had nothing bad to say but were holding back pending a mileage review as tires were new. Impressive. Is there some kind of stigma because of cheap price that some of us are having trouble with?//

The price is amazing. The e bay negative feedback is primarily re: shipping, canceling orders etc. In the past month 574 positives and 23 negatives

I wish they made them in 245/45r20 for my Chrysler. Looks like only the parent company, Sumitomo, offers that size. Probably at least as good though.

Actually both convertibles. Was surprised to find them to fit the 18" Volvo wheels and think the 235 55 17 for the Bird should be readily available.

I have had Goodyears as OE on a few cars and maybe even bought a set over the years.Never again will I or any family member ever consider a Goodyear purchase again.
